Direct Unattended Cremation

Some families prefer a simpler alternative to a traditional funeral service. A Direct Unattended Cremation allows your loved one to be cremated without a formal funeral ceremony and is often followed by a memorial service, celebration of life, or private gathering at a time and place that is meaningful to family and friends.

Direct cremation is the simplest and most cost-effective funeral option available. While the service is usually unattended, arrangements can be made for family members to be present at the committal should you wish.

Following the cremation, your loved one’s ashes will be returned to you for scattering, burial, or safekeeping.

Cremations take place at a local crematorium and are typically scheduled during the early morning.

Unlike many direct cremation providers, we believe your loved one should remain in local, compassionate care throughout the entire process.

We promise that:

• Your loved one will remain in the care of Barnaby Jones Funeral Services at all times.

• Visits to our Chapel of Rest are available during office hours by appointment.

• Your loved one will be respectfully conveyed to the crematorium on the agreed date and time of cremation, not the day or evening beforehand.

• The cremation will take place at one of our local crematoriums, not at a facility many miles away in another part of the country.

• Because the cremation takes place locally, ashes are usually available within days, rather than weeks or months after the cremation.

Direct Unattended Cremation Costs

The Direct Unattended Cremation package includes:

• Removal of the deceased from the place of death

• Care and preparation of the deceased

• Use of Chapel of Rest for viewing in office hours (by appointment only)

• Satin gown or dressing in own clothing

• A standard-sized basic coffin

• Guidance on the certification and registration of death

• Assistance with all necessary paperwork

• Cremation fee

• Collection of ashes following the cremation

Payment is required prior to the cremation and should be made at the earliest convenience.
